SEND Teaching Assistant (Secondary schools)   Unique School Solutions are supporting several mainstream secondary schools in Sheffield to recruit SEND Teaching Assistants to work either within the classroom or within specialist units, supporting students with SEND needs on long-term and temporary to permanent basis, following a successful 12 week temporary placement.. The role will be working under the direction of the teacher supporting students with the curriculum and developmental targets.   Essential requirements for the role:
  • Previous experience working within a school (mainstream or special)
  • Secondary school employment experience
  • Experience supporting students with SEND
  • The ability to build positive rapport with learners
  • The ability to work under the direction of the class teacher as well as using own initiative
  • The ability to support small groups and on a 1:1 basis

This role offers flexible working, with long-term temporary to permanent opportunities for the right candidates. Working as part of a friendly and supportive team, you’ll help create safe, engaging, and nurturing learning environments where children can thrive.   What We’re Looking For: The ideal candidate will have:
  • A Level 3 full and relevant childcare qualification
  • A strong working knowledge of the EYFS and current safeguarding procedures
  • A genuine passion for early years education
  • A paediatric first aid certificate (preferred, but training can be provided)
  • A warm, caring, and professional approach when working with children, colleagues, and families
  • Flexibility in availability and hours
Key Responsibilities:
  • Acting as a key person for a small group of children
  • Building positive, professional relationships with parents and families
  • Working closely with external agencies to support children’s development
  • Planning and delivering fun, engaging, and purposeful learning opportunities (under the direction of the Room Leader)
  • Observing, assessing, and monitoring children’s progress
Working Pattern:
  • Monday to Friday
  • Various shifts available between 7:30 am – 6:00 pm
  • Flexibility required
