Unique School Solutions are supporting a large secondary school in the S10 area of Sheffield, who are looking to appoint a DT Technician across both their sites. You will play a vital role in maintaining their workshops, preparing resources, and supporting students as they bring their creative designs to life. The role is to start ASAP, and for the right person could lead to a permanent job after 12 weeks.

Key responsibilities:
- Material Preparation: Prepare, cut, and distribute timber, metals, plastics, and other materials for daily practical lessons
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain, clean, and sharpen workshop hand tools and large machinery (e.g., band saws, pillar drills, laser cutters, 3D printers)
- Classroom Support: Provide live technical assistance to teachers and students during busy, practical GCSE and A-Level classes
- Health & Safety: Ensure workshop operations comply strictly with health and safety standards, keeping accurate COSHH records and managing waste disposal
- Stock & Resource Management: Track inventory, carry out regular stock checks, and handle the procurement of raw materials and new equipment.
Essential requirements:
- Good practical DIY, manufacturing, or workshop skills
- Experience handling hand tools and materials like wood, metal, or acrylics
- Excellent organizational skills with a methodical approach to sorting resources
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a busy team
- Previous experience working within a school or educational setting
- Familiarity with modern manufacturing technologies like CAD/CAM, laser cutting, or 3D printing
- Valid Health and Safety training certificate (e.g., DATA / CLEAPSS certification)
